Although the secrets of silk productions have been known in China and around the world for thousands of years, I realized that I was still clueless as to how worm cocoons and gobs of spit could possibly be turned into the most precious of fabric and clothing. To find the answers I returned time and time again to the remote silk villages in the countryside of Northern Thailand to meet to the silk farmers, weavers and the millions of worms that preserve this ancient tradition. The Story of Silk: From Worm Spit to Woven Scarves will be the fourth title in The Traveling Photographer book series.
