In China the cruel practice of raising moon bears for traditional medicines is slowly coming to an end. As the bear farms are closed and the bears are freed from their tiny cages many are brought to a sanctuary in Chengdu run by Jill Robinson and the Animals Asia Foundation. Jill has worked tirelessly on this mission to rescue these bears and allow them a life of fresh air, exercise and good food. The story follows Jill and her team of Chinese caregivers as they open the cages and the bears learn to walk and enjoy the lush grounds of the sanctuary. The photos of the bears in captivity are difficult to view but they need to be seen to fully appreciate the joy of the playful bears that they evolve into once they are free.
