This book is a more advanced version of Construction Zone. Together with text by Project Manager Nancy Joyce and the architect Frank Gehry, the processes of building, design and construction are de- mystified.
For five years I was hired by MIT to document the problem solving decisions and thousands upon thousands of labor tasks that unfolded during construction of a unique Frank Gehry building designed for the engineering and robotics schools. In text and photos this book bridges the gap between the vision of a major architect and the execution of that design by the “folks on the ground”, the laborers that sweat on site day after to day. The photographs capture the work in progress and the beauty of the completed architectural forms.
